Andrej Srakar, PhD (Slovenia) Affiliated to University of Ljubljana, Institute for Economic Research (IER) in Ljubljana and Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe (Slovenia)

Andrej has extensive experience in studies on economic impact of cultural and sport events (particularly: ex-post econometric verification and contingent valuation methodology), as well as econometric studies in culture. He has published extensive in journals and publications such as Cultural Trends, Economic and Business Review, ACEI Working Papers, Value in Health, Slovenian Journal of Public Health, Journal of Criminal Justice and Security, Theory and Practice, Journal for the Critique of Science, Imagination and New Anthropology and Kult-ur.

Arts Council Malta

Arts Council Malta’s central task is that of effectively funding, supporting and promoting the cultural and creative sectors in Malta. The Council manages a funding portfolio for the cultural and creative sectors through its six national funding programmes. It is also in the process of drawing up a five-year national strategy for the arts based on a five-pronged approach. One of these is research, a new strategic priority for the council. Other priorities include internationalisation and business development but also education and training and diversity and communities. With events such as the IFACCA World Summit, the European Presidency and Valletta as the European Capital of Culture in the pipeline, Arts Council Malta is poised to be a major player in the years to come.

Dr. Annick Schramme/ Antwerp Management School – Competence Center Creative Industries (Belgium)


Antwerp Management School (AMS) is an autonomous, future-oriented management school, which helps its clients in sustainable value creation, by developing talent to become a ' Global Citizen ', and which teaches the art of decision making and leading people.The school is supported by Competence Centers with an experience around a specific theme, as a breeding ground to innovate on scientific and educational areas in their domain. The Competence Center Creative Industries at Antwerp Management School - directed by Prof. dr. Annick Schramme - has, among other things, the ambition to professionalize the creative industries in Flanders, Belgium. The themes that were already treated within this Competence Center, include a mapping and economic impact analysis of the creative industries, a research into the dominant logics of the creative sectors, drivers and barriers of growth, symbolic value and the innovative contribution of the creative industries. In addition, the Competence Center gives support to educational programs and training courses, aimed at entrepreneurs and workers within the creative industries, such as the Creative Jumpers Bootcamps, the Master Class Culture Management and the Summer School of Fashion Management.For its research and projects the Competence Center connects with sector organizations and experts from the various creative industries. As such, the Competence Center network has expanded over the years.

Dr. Cristina Ortega Nuere (3Walks, Spain)

Having led as the Director of the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto, Cristina has set up an independent company ‘3Walks’ specialising in cultural research, training and knowledge transference. She is also Chief Academic Officer of the World Leisure Organization - a non profit organization founded in 1957 and based in New York with worldwide membership. She is responsible for research and knowledge transference in the publications of ENCATC, like the ENCATC Journal, ENCATC Scholar and ENCATC Book Series.

Fondazione Fitzcarraldo (Italy)

Fitzcarraldo is an operative foundation focusing on ground-breaking approaches in research, consulting, training and documentation on cultural, arts and media management, economics and policies. We serve and inspire all those who create, practice, produce, participate, promote and support the arts and culture. Our partners and clients include institutions and businesses, Foundations, local government, creative enterprises and cultural organizations in Italy and worldwide. We advise them on designing and developing well founded, effective and innovative policies and programmes; we help them to carry out, enhance and evaluate projects and activities, as well as by providing training programmes tailored on the emerging needs. We also contribute passionately to the European public debate and take an active part in building bridges among the stakeholders through a range of events and initiatives.

Jonathan Vickery (University of Warwick, England)

Dr. Jonathan Vickery is an Associate Professor in Warwick University's Centre for Cultural Policy Studies​. He has worked as an artist and designer, was a Henry Moore Fellow and has taught at a number of institutions. He has collaborated with ecce on a student masterclass in 'spillover' and policy as part of the 'Catalyse' seminars. This resulted in the recent publication 'To be Debated: Spillover'. Jonathan has research publications in art theory, urban regeneration, cultural economy and organisational aesthetics. He has created three masters degrees on the creative industries at Warwick. He has been an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Peer Review College member since 2009. He is on the Steering Group of Warwick Global Research Priorities Committee on International Development (GRP ID), an 'Ambassador' for the EU funded CreArt Project (Network of Cities for Artistic Creation), a Co-Director of the Shanghai City Lab. He is also the Chairman of The Art of Management and Organization (a non-profit research company).

Dr. Louise Ejgod Hansen (rethinkIMPACTS 2017)

rethinkIMPACTS 2017 was established in 2013 to conduct the research-led evaluation of Aarhus as European Capital of Culture. The evaluation is based on a dynamic approach to the evaluation prioritising learning and dissemination over control. The evaluation is conducted by the rethinkIMPACTS 2017 team led by Dr. Louise Ejgod Hansen in co-operation with an interdisciplinary network of researchers and students.

Lyudmila Petrova (Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands)


Lyudmila Petrova is a co-founder and a director of the CREARE School of Cultural Economics. She holds a MA in cultural economics and cultural entrepreneurship and is an active member of the cultural economics community. She is pursuing her PhD thesis on institutional transformation and artistic creativity and innovation at Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC), Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Being passionate for arts, she is teaching and working on various international researches in the areas of creative economy, financing of the arts, creativity and innovation, cultural heritage and international cultural policy.Currently, she undertook the design and implementation of a culture (e)valuation tool “The Value-Based Approach” at the European Cultural Foundation (the Netherlands) and S-NODI (Italy). She has publications in related to her research topics in various books and international journals; among the others, Journal of Cultural Economics, The Journal of Art Management, Law and Society,Japanese Journal of Cultural Economics, as well as regularly presenting at international seminars and conferences (of the Association of Cultural Economics International, of Cultural Policy Research, of Arts and Cultural Management, to name some).

Dr. Marilena Vecca (affiliated to Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands)

Marilena Vecco is Assistant Professor of Cultural Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. In the Department for the Study of the Arts and Culture, she lectures in the MA Cultural Economics & Cultural Entrepreneurship. Her research focuses on cultural entrepreneurship, management with a special focus on cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) and art markets, cultural sustainability, cultural and local development.She holds a PhD in Economic Sciences at University Paris 1, Panthéon Sorbonne, a PhD in Economics of Institutions and Creativity at University of Turin (I) and a MBA executive in International Arts Management from the University of Salzburg Business School in collaboration with Columbia College, Chicago. Between 1999 and 2010 she was head of research of the International Center for Arts Economics (ICARE) and Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor of Cultural Economics and Art markets at the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice.

Marilena has over 15 years of academic and professional experience as a researcher, lecturer and consultant. She has researched and consulted for several public and private organisations, including OECD, Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs and Local Development, World Bank and The European Commission.

Phil Parker (BCre8ive, England, UK)

Phil Parker is co-founder of, a multiplatform online development company for the creative and arts industries. He is one of Europe's leading development consultants - productions include 'Wallace and Gromit - Curse of the Were Rabbit' & 'Terry Prachett's - Hogfather' and has worked in India, Kenya, Brazil, Australia and throughout Europe. In 1994 he founded the UK's most successful screenwriting course, whose graduates went on to win several BAFTA's, a Palme D'Or and be Oscar nominated. He supervises screenwriting PhDs including author Helen Jacey’s ‘The Woman in the Picture’ and Joanne Leigh’s ‘award winning screenplay ‘Sam J.’.

Phil is also the author of the ‘Art and Science of Screenwriting’(intellect), and ‘Introduction to Screenwriting’(UK Film Council). He is currently working on a research project into freelance creatives in the UK.

University of the Arts, Utrecht (the Netherlands)

HKU’s involvement is led by Prof. Dr. Elisabetta Lazzaro, Professor in Creative Economy. HKU University of the Arts Utrecht is a major institution in the arts, culture and creative industries in the Netherlands and in Europe, with important liaisons also in the other continents. A pioneer in research and teaching in the field of cultural management, economics and entrepreneurship since the 1980s, a few years ago the HKU established the Professorship in Creative Economy, a sector that is strategically recognised as a Top Sector by the Dutch Government.

Creative spillovers constitute a major pillar in the multi annual research plan of their Professorship in Creative Economy. They are involved in doing research on the identification and analysis of mechanisms of indirect and overall effects originating from the creative industries that spill over onto the wider economy and society, hence contributing to the valorisation of creative processes. Furthermore, from a more strategic perspective, they are interested in planning and integrating desired positive effects in innovative business models of creative organisations and professionals, contributing to their added value and hence competitiveness (creative crossovers). From a policy perspective, this can foster public-private partnerships. Their research approach is multi- and interdisciplinary, embracing qualitative and quantitative methods, actively involving national and international scientific collaborations and co-working with established practitioners form the creative industries together with creative students, who are young or future creative professionals.

Marcel Kraus (affiliated to the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic)
Marcel is a designer of support R&D programs in the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and a researcher in the field of creative economy, cultural and creative industries and creative cities. His activities focus on the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, eg support of creative and digital economy, consequences of the new production revolution (Industry 4.0) and its synergy with creative and digital economy, creativity as a new strategic resource and competence, STEAM, synergies between arts and new technologies, digitization, interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary in the R&D&I, the role of social science, humanities and arts for the new economy, city and community development, responsible research and innovation with respect on diversity and gender equality etc. He was a member of the research team in the Art and Theatre Institute in Prague, which is responsible for mapping and planning of culture and creative industries and creative cities. The research of innovative entrepreneurship based on clusters, networks and technology & knowledge transfer was part of his research focus for almost 5 years at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy in Leipzig, Germany.

Arts Council Norway

Arts Council Norway is the primary governmental organization responsible for the implementation of Norwegian cultural policy. Arts Council Norway functions as an advisory body to the central government and public sector on cultural affairs, and is fully funded by the Ministry of Culture. The Council was established in 1965, to administer the Norwegian Cultural Fund. Today, the Arts Council is responsible for a wide range of tasks and functions within the cultural field, including administering artists’ grants as well as a number of other funding programs. Since 2011, Arts Council Norway has also managed governmental initiatives in the museum and archive sectors and works to support a variety of projects and activities in performing and visual arts, music, literature, archives, museums and more.
